  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional, but recommended)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pasta of your choice (spaghetti is traditional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep ingredients: chop onion, garlic, carrot, and celery.
  2. Heat olive oil, sauté onion, carrot, and celery for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef, brown for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and red wine, simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30-60 minutes.
  7. Cook pasta in boiling salted water until al dente.
  8. Combine cooked pasta with sauce, toss gently.
  9. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese.
