- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients: slice sausage, peel shrimp, and dice vegetables.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté sausage until browned.
- Add diced onion, bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in rice and Cajun seasoning, toasting for 2 minutes.
- Pour in chicken broth, stir, bring to a boil, and simmer covered for 15-20 minutes.
- Add shrimp, cover, and cook until shrimp are pink.
- Fluff rice with a fork and adjust seasoning before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, let the rice toast longer.
- Adjust Cajun seasoning to taste for spiciness.
