- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- ½ cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare ingredients by chopping onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
- Sauté onion and bell pepper in olive oil for 5-7 minutes, then add garlic for the last minute.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper gently.
- Fold in shredded provolone cheese.
- Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the outside is golden-brown.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve warm, optionally on a hoagie roll.
Notes
- For added flavor, brush ketchup on top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
