- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients by thawing chicken, dicing onion, and mincing garlic and ginger.
- Combine bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and pepper in a bowl.
- Layer diced onion in the crock pot, then add chicken thighs on top.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s fully covered.
- Set the crock pot to cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- Shred the chicken with forks once cooked.
- If desired, mix cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce, then cook on high for 15-30 minutes.
- Return shredded chicken to the pot, mix with sauce, and serve garnished with green onions.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, add cornstarch and water.
- This dish pairs well with rice or noodles.
