Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 3–4 pounds)
- 8 cups of chicken broth
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken by rinsing, drying, and removing giblets.
- Cook the chicken in broth at a simmer for 30-40 minutes until tender.
- Sauté onion, carrots, celery, and garlic in the broth pot for 5-7 minutes.
- Shred the chicken and return it to the pot with sautéed vegetables and seasonings.
- Make the dumpling dough by mixing flour, baking powder, salt, melted butter, and milk.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the simmering broth and cover for 15 minutes.
- Check dumplings for doneness and cook an additional 2-3 minutes if needed.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

- Fresh herbs can be added for garnish.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
