- 1 pound gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare ingredients.
- Cook gnocchi in boiling salted water until they float, then drain.
- In a skillet, sauté onion in olive oil until translucent, then add garlic.
- Add ground meat, season, and cook until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil; simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Fold gnocchi into the sauce until well combined.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.
Notes
- Fresh basil adds a nice touch but is optional.
- Feel free to substitute ground meat with a plant-based option for a vegetarian version.
