Ingredients

- 1 box of chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can (15 oz) of cherry pie filling
- 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
- Fresh cherries (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix cake ingredients and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into cubes.
- Whip cream until soft peaks form, add sugar and vanilla, and whip until stiff peaks form.
- Cut cooled cake into 1-inch cubes.
- Layer cake cubes, cherry filling, and whipped cream in a trifle bowl, repeating until all ingredients are used.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

- For best flavor, chill overnight if possible.
